One rather long and dull airplane ride later (on which and elderly lady actually took me through a pictoral version of her entire life story - which she swears to never travel without because you never know when sizzling conversation will strick over a picture of cute little "Muffy the Cat" at the tender age of 8 weeks) I found myself in the maze that is Frankfurt Airport. My plane wasn't glitzy enough for it's own gate so we bused our way to the luggage racks.
I'm now happily lodged in the little village of Plettenberg at my aunt and uncles (Dietmar and Brigitte), having already visited with aunt and uncle number one (Gunther and Ingeborg) who picked my up from the airport, and spent a good afternoon reminiscing with my cousin Matthias (who for the record, cough Vanessa cough, looks much the same just larger - in a musclular sense - and I will take a picture of). Also ogled my german family's motorcycles...from 0 to 250km/h in 6 seconds!...and made sure to secure a promise for a ride when I get back for the wedding.
So, the plan thus far is, tomorrow I drive back with Dietmar and Brigitte and get dropped off at my cousin Margrits (near Frankfurt) and then Friday morning I'm catching a train to Bremen, or Hamburg, and from then on to Denmark (Copenhagen here I come!).
It's funny the looks people have when they're travelling..it isn't like anything else. You get the excited ones (practically bouncing with "where to now?"), the disdainful ones - who dream of first class - and the ones who try to pretend they're not watching everyone else for clues on how to act. Should be interesting after two months of train to see if this holds true.
Bed time. Although in Canada its only 5pm, still big day tomorrow.
Cheers.
